Helideck Assistant (HDA)- CAAM (NEW)
The Helideck Assistant (HDA) training is developed to equip personnel with the requisite technical knowledge and operational competencies to support offshore helicopter operations in accordance with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) CAD1406 – Helideck Standards and Requirements (HSR) and the UK Civil Aviation Publication (CAP) 437 – Standards for Offshore Helicopter Landing Areas.

Information
This training is structured to deliver both theoretical instruction and practical exercises covering helideck safety, hazard identification, helicopter ground handling, emergency response, cargo management, and regulatory compliance. The HDA functions under the direction of the Helideck Landing Officer (HLO) to ensure the safe conduct of helideck operations on offshore installations.

A valid or current offshore medical, or possess an operator approved medical, and/or undergo medical screening form in SEQU.
The objectives of the HDA Training are that learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of applicable regulatory frameworks including CAAM CAD1406, CAP 437, and Annex 14 Volume II pertaining to offshore helideck operations.
- Describe the defined duties and operational responsibilities of a Helideck Assistant (HDA) in support of offshore helicopter movements.
- Identify the helideck infrastructure requirements, safety systems, and relevant operational limitations.
- Apply standard procedures for pre-arrival, landing, and departure phases, including communication protocols and coordination with the HLO.
- Conduct routine inspections, checklists, and support tasks related to passenger handling, baggage screening, and freight loading in compliance with Dangerous Goods (DG) regulations.
- Respond effectively to helideck emergency scenarios involving fire, helicopter incidents, or environmental threats, including the use of firefighting and rescue equipment.
- Perform practical competencies required to assist with helicopter ground operations and ensure adherence to safety management protocols.
