Information
This training is to refresh the safety and emergency response skills of personnel who have previously successfully completed their Travel Safely by Boat (TSbB) Initial Training.
Learners must hold a valid OPITO-approved Travel Safely by Boat certificate. Learners who are in possession of a current BOSIET (with EBS), FOET (with EBS), HUET (with EBS), Tropical BOSIET, Tropical FOET, Tropical HUET, BOSIET (with CAEBS), HUET (with CAEBS) or FOET (with CAEBS) are not required to participate in practical life raft and in-water sea survival exercises.
This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.
The objectives of the TSbB Further Training are that learners will be able to:
- Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and how they are managed
- An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency
- An increase in their personal commitment to safety
- Effective use of personal safety equipment
- Practice and demonstrate the correct method of boat transfers (simulated boat deck and installation)
