Tropical HUET with Shallow Water CAEBS

This Training is designed for personnel who intend to travel to and from offshore installations and vessels by helicopter in a tropical environment and are required to complete helicopter underwater escape training with the use of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS).
It is suitable for personnel who are new to or returning to the offshore energy industry and who will be issued with a CAEBS during offshore helicopter travel.

Information

Tropical HUET with Shallow Water CAEBS provides helicopter specific emergency response training in a tropical environment, with additional practical instruction on the deployment and use of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System in shallow water.
The training focuses solely on pre flight and in flight helicopter requirements and underwater escape techniques following a helicopter ditching, ensuring learners can respond safely and effectively during a helicopter emergency.

This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.

The objectives of the T-HUET (with CAEBS) Training are that learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate correct use of helicopter safety equipment and follow procedures during pre flight and in flight operations.
  • Deploy and use a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System correctly during a helicopter emergency in shallow water.
  • Demonstrate effective underwater escape techniques following a helicopter ditching.
  • Apply appropriate emergency response actions during helicopter related incidents.
